There are only two places on earth where you can visit the white-coat seal that looks like a living soft toy, fluffy and white with the big black eyes. One of these unique places is in Canada, near the Magdalen islands, and another one is in Russia, in the icy White Sea. Every year harp seals go back here at the end of winter. Every year at the beginning of spring the harp seal cow gives birth to only one pup as a rule. This unique natural phenomenon attracts people. 

The impressions of what have been seen here remain fresh for many years. That is because everything on the ice is clear and simple. The immense sky, icy fields, mothers with their pups and the absolute harmony. The atmosphere is absolutely amazing; you abstract yourself from your every-day life, and the world is becoming somewhat different. The cosmonaut Vitaliy Sevastianov compared his feelings of what he has seen to the view of the Earth from space. The same holistic view. Everything is perceived through the prism of purity, freedom and lucidity. There is no terrible twist that exists in every-day life and makes it difficult to think, to see the important things in a pack of trivial matters.

The ringing silence of the White Sea, small cries that sound like “mommy” fill you with the inner happiness. The new-born white-coat seals, the harp seal pups, are justly considered one of the most beautiful creatures on Earth.

The ices of the Northern and Arctic seas are called “maternity homes” of the harp seals because during this time the seals here do not have natural enemies, except human. It is very important as the new-born pups (the white-coat seals) are not able to swim and to move properly on ice. This makes them vulnerable to every enemy.

Unfortunately the number of the new-born white-coat seals is decreasing because of the food potential depletion, general water contamination, global warming and business. The visit to the seals is not only an unforgettable adventure but also a positive help for the little seal pups.
